Why work with Jobair

We are a Dutch staffing agency based at Schiphol itself. We are not a middleman who passes you on. We handle the employer, the accommodation and the paperwork.

Pay of €14.99 to €17.00 an hour

Gross pay per hour. The exact amount depends on the role and the shifts you work.

Accommodation from day one

A furnished room within commuting distance of the airport is ready before you arrive. Rent is deducted from your wages.

Support in Czech

You get your own contact person, someone you can speak Czech with, before you travel and for the whole time you work with us.

We handle the paperwork

Your BSN, the Dutch contract, health insurance and the airport security screening. You do not arrange any of it alone.

What the work involves

We recruit for Schiphol Airport near Amsterdam and for the warehouses around it. Your specific role is assigned after training, based on what suits you and what is open at the time.

What you need

Working at the airport has firm entry rules, and they are set by Schiphol, not by us. Please read them before you apply. If you meet them, we will sort out the rest together.

  • A CV in English (optional) You can apply without one. If you have one, attach it and we will help you polish it.
  • Enough English to work with colleagues and supervisors It does not have to be perfect. You do not need any Dutch.
  • European Union citizenship
  • Eight continuous years of residence in the EU Required for the Schiphol security screening.
  • At least 18 years old
  • A clean criminal record certificate

Why so many requirements?

To work in the restricted area of the airport you have to pass a security screening. The Dutch authority checks the last eight years of your life, and it can only do that where those years can be verified inside the EU.

We arrange the screening and you pay nothing for it. Do expect it to take around 3 months. The sooner you apply, the sooner you can start.

From application to first shift

Nothing complicated, but it helps to know what happens and when. The longest part is waiting for the security screening.

  1. 1

    You apply

You fill in the short form on this page, and attach a CV in English if you have one. It takes a few minutes.

  2. 2

    We call you

We go through your CV, the requirements and the options together. We also ask about the things a form cannot tell us.

  3. 3

    Screening documents

You provide the documents the authority needs for the security screening. We tell you exactly which and help you prepare them.

  4. 4

    The screening is submitted

It takes around 3 months. We stay in touch while you wait and get everything else ready.

  5. 5

    We agree your start date

Once the screening is approved we set the date you travel, start work and move in.

  6. 6

    You arrive and move in

Your room is ready. You sign the employment contract and the accommodation agreement, and arrange your BSN.

  7. 7

    Training and Schiphol Pass

You complete the induction training and collect your airport pass, without which you cannot get onto the apron.

  8. 8

    Your first shift

You start. You get your shift rota in advance, and there is always someone to ask if you are unsure.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to speak Dutch?

No. The airport works in English, and it is normal for five nationalities to meet in one of our teams. You do need enough English to work with colleagues and supervisors. It does not have to be perfect.

How long before I can start?

The airport security screening decides it, and that takes around 3 months. You can apply straight away, because the documents and preparation happen during that time anyway. Without an approved screening nobody can let you into the restricted area.

Do I need airport or warehouse experience?

No. Most of the people we hire come from something else entirely. You are trained on site and your role is assigned based on what suits you.

What will it cost me?

We charge nothing for placing you, no commission of any kind. We arrange the security screening. Rent for the accommodation is deducted from your wages, so you pay nothing up front. You cover your own travel to the Netherlands unless we agree otherwise.

Why do I need eight years of EU residence?

Because the Schiphol security screening requires it. The authority checks the last eight years and needs to be able to verify them. Without that it will not issue the clearance, and we cannot employ you at the airport. There is no point trying to work around it, it comes out.

Can I come just for a season?

We are mainly looking for people who want to stay longer, not least because the screening takes 3 months. A short stint can sometimes be arranged for roles outside the restricted area. Ask us about it on the call.

What if I do not meet one of the requirements?

Tell us straight away. For some requirements another role can be found, for the screening it cannot. Better that we find out at the start than after three months of waiting.
